7 Flat-Pack Assembly Tips (From People Who Do It Daily)

We assemble flat-pack furniture almost every day, so we've learned what turns a two-hour headache into a 30-minute job. Here are our top tips.

The tips

  • Lay everything out and count the parts before you start — check nothing is missing.
  • Sort the fixings into little groups (or an egg cup) so you're not hunting mid-build.
  • Read the whole instruction booklet first, not step-by-step as you go.
  • Build on carpet or a blanket to avoid scratching panels and your floor.
  • Don't fully tighten screws until the whole frame is together — leave a little play.
  • Use a hand screwdriver for the final turns; power drivers strip the fixings.
  • Always anchor tall units (wardrobes, drawers, bookcases) to the wall for safety.

Short on time or patience?

Flat-pack is one of our most requested jobs across Swansea. If you'd rather skip the stress — especially with big PAX wardrobes — we'll build it safely, anchor it to the wall and take away all the packaging. Get in touch for a quote.
